Light Emitting Diode (LED) sends energy-producing light into the deeper layers of skin to energise cells. The process stimulates collagen and elastin formation, boosting collagen density to repair skin damage and build up resilience to future damage.
Because LEDs are low in intensity, they are used to deliver therapeutic levels of light and reduce the risk of burns or scars potentially caused by more aggressive laser treatments — catering to the wide range of skin types.
Red light for vasodilation
Red light therapy uses wavelengths of visible red light to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin. The dermal layers, with high water and blood content, absorb red light very readily and hence red light therapy is beneficial in treating problems close to the skin surface.
ELVi’s red light is set at a frequency of 640nm, proven to be the most effective for vasodilation which dilates blood capillaries and aids in skin rejuvenation. This encourages skin’s microcirculation and fibroblast activity for collagen production, and even promotes healing of inflamed acne, wounds, cuts, scars and infections. If skin is already healthy, it will produce a plumping effect from the extra collagen created, which visibly reduces wrinkles.
